Why I’m Running

Not enough people are involved with how our city runs. As a 29 year-old Texan, I intend to contribute a new generation’s ideas about how to address the most critical issues facing a fast-changing district. I have devoted my life to learning the law and have valuable experience working as an attorney and activist with others to serve the people of Dallas, Texas.

My story is like so many others in Texas. As the daughter of hardworking Iranian immigrants, I am proud to be a first-generation American. The sense of integrity my parents instilled at a young age led me to a passion for justice.

From Denton to Dallas to Cedar Hill, polls welcomed voters starting at 7 a.m. But just because it might have been a painstaking process didn’t mean people aren’t voting, according to Tarrant County Elections Administrator Heider Garcia. “It’s been busier than expected, definitely,” he said. Garcia says ballots cast Tuesday outdid the 2018 and 2016 runoff elections. During early voting, more than a million ballots were cast.

Raha Assadi is One to Watch

Raha Assadi is a second year associate and practices commercial litigation at Figari + Davenport, LLP. Prior to joining Figari + Davenport, she practiced in the areas of both commercial litigation, labor & employment, and insurance defense. In her short time in practice so far, she has gained extensive experience in the courtroom, arguing hearings and assisting in trial. Through this experience, she has secured multiple victories for clients through her oral advocacy and persuasive writing.

Our district is only as prosperous as its residents, and too many people in Dallas are at risk of being left behind. District 2’s last election was only decided by 7% of its voters. It’s time for representation that can reach beyond the same interest groups and career politicians.
